Saturday, the last day of the Global Challenge, was another great day. The last 3 races of a series of 15 (!) were finished in lighter conditions than the last days (winds around 10 knots). I'm sure everyone on the water enjoyed this last sunny day of sailing in Florida. The top 2 boats (Robbie Daniel/Taylor Reiss and John Casey/Dalton Tebo) had another great day and kept their positions. Greg Goodall/Kelly Krueger still managed to jump over Olli Jason/Patrick Gilles to complete the top three. With the slightly lighter conditions the last days, some remarkable performances of the lighter crews cannot be left unmentionned. Single handed Ed Mills managed to sail three top ten places with a 3rd place as best result! Also Matt McDonald/Gina McDonald made there statement with two second places and a bullet on the last day.
The full results can be found here. At the price giving all of the competitors were tired but happy after an entire week of great sailing and partying. Local club member Robi interviewed the top finishers (Robbie Daniels, John Casey, Greg Goodall, Matt McDonald, Andi Lutz), go check out what they liked about the event and the F16's they were sailing on! All pictures are also available here. The next venue of the Global Challenge is still to be decided on. Locally more and more races are being held (US nationals, Australian nationals, Dutch nationals, UK nationals, Singapore, ....). Interested? Go check out the calender from January onwards. |
